As you plan the use of graphics on your Web site, consider what format to use for the images, what size they will be (in pixels and in bytes), and where you will find the images (create, scan, photograph, or retrieve from a library).

This exercise will use graphics paint/imaging programs to prepare images for use on the Web. This tool may be any graphics program that you have access to, but the popularity and availability of these come and go. Some really great but obsolete programs include Microsoft Image Composer, Microsoft PhotoDraw, and Micrografx Webtricity. Some that you may wish to try are ...

or any other commercial program. Install an imaging package of your choice for your original graphics creation.

Many good tutorials are available on the Web such as the tutorial for ULead PhotoImpact or the guide to PaintShopPro.

As time permits, we will practice some imaging techniques to achieve special effects on texts, such as drop shadowing and reflections.
