In the beginning ... Jan. 2002
|
January 2001 We had a great start, but our luck with the rains did not quite hold up in January. Regardless, we forged ahead and were lucky in that our walls did not cave in, or erode, it was just a matter of time delay. Not that we are very good at being patient, but we are learning. |

Here you see the beginning of what we discovered is the concrete guys best friend - batter boards. No line is pulled without setting up several batter boards to check, and recheck level. These boards were set up for the first forms we needed for footings around the house. With California earthquake codes, we have HUGE footings around the house. Believe me this house isn't going any where!

We had our first concrete pour, hooray!!! But definitely not our last. This pour was for the footings in the basement and the boys room, and the dining room.
This was the first of three trucks.
The guys pumping the concrete into the forms.

Randy helping Bryant write his name in the footing below his room.
The finished product. |

Spenser, concentrating on writing his name on the footing under his room.

The rest of the month was spent putting up more batter boards and building
the forms for retaining walls.
