In the beginning ... Jan. 2002
|
May 2001 Hopefully, the "April showers" are over and done with and we will get back to our normal spring and summer weather - FOG. We thank our lucky stars that we have made it through this rainy season and now look forward to normal type construction delays - no show contractors, material that aren't delivered and inspection delays. The big hope now is that we will be done with framing by July 1st. Stay tuned to see how that turns out.

Well, we may have to revise that July completion date, but things are moving along, in spurts that is. At times we will have a crew of 6 or so out there working away, at other times it's just us. The high-wire act is George. He's working on our floor joists for the main level, and it's also the roof for the basement. The other three guys are working on the floor joist for the utility room. That room connects the garage and the kitchen.

Parts of the house are getting shear walls put up. Here my office is getting some sheets. The engineers are very particular in how the shear walls are put up. All this so that there will be no lateral moment in the house. I repeat myself, but this house isn't going anywhere.

Randy's workshop is getting shear walls too.

The Tuesday after Memorial Day our windows and doors were delivered. Yea!!! Not that we are ready to put them in yet, but we will need the time to prime and stain the woodwork. The door pictured is our front door. It's 8 feet tall and 6 feet wide and all window. The slate green color is the exterior color of all the windows and doors. |
