In the beginning ... Jan. 2002
|
September 2001 Our lack of update for this month was at first attributed to the digital camera that quit working at the end of August, but that has now been replaced. No, the true reason for our lack of updates is because of what happen on Sept. 11. It is a day we will never forget, an event that has changed our world forever. It is amazing how you can wake up one morning and nothing was like it was before or ever will be. I guess I am most upset for the children whose world was tossed upside-down by the crash of four planes. This page though is to celebrate the fruit of our labor and I want to continue that. The terrorist have taken enough from us, it's time we try and return to our lives and not let them interfere anymore.

What we did accomplish in September was the complete closing of our ceiling as you can see here in the Breakfast Nook. We also managed to get all the windows and exterior doors installed. I am now in the process of staining all of them. |

Our fireplace is now installed and the chimney built. The other things that got done, but is not very visible is that we got the fire sprinklers all in and inspected. Also the plumbers were in and we are now completely roughed in and ready for sheetrock. What's holding us up on that is electrical and that's mainly our fault because we are the ones that will be doing the majority of the work on that.

The sheet metal people have been out on the job fabricating flashing for the deck, we hope they will be done soon. The stucco people have also been out and have started to wrap the house, though they are now awaiting for the sheet metal to be completed before they can continue. We have now insulated the roof with 3" rigid insulation and hope to get the sheathing very soon. That will pretty much button us up and allow the roofers to come in and at least get paper on it. Then it can rain and we won't be totally up a creek.
