Sharp, glossy, Sepia-tone Real Photo Postcard looking up the street Sibley Avenue in Litchfield, Meeker County, Minnesota in the early 1900s. This area is part of what has been designated Litchfield Commercial Historic District (#96000192 of the National Register of Historic Places ). A rich image of turn-of-the-century small-town America with stately brick buildings, Victorian 5-globe street lights on both sides of the wide dirt avenue, horse-drawn carriages sharing the street with vintage autos, identifiable shops, churches, meat markets, law offices, etc. Inset below shows a draft horse pulling a wagon load of lumber, while parked outside of the Happ & Co. Drygoods. A cobbler shop is to the right (Boots and Shoes" sign in the window), with a gentleman striking a pose with his new high-heeled fancy boots. Next is a soda shop, then Pianos and Organs. Behind the steel-wheel wagon is the town clock (it's 9:02 A.M.), and on a brick building is a sign for the Litchfield Opera House (1900). I do not know if the building is the Opera House (today designated Litchfield Community Building, #84000019) or other.
