RPPC-Wooden Pigtail Bridge, South Dakota-1950

Very sharp and glossy Real Photo Postcard of Pigtail Bridge, Custer County, South Dakota, taken about 1950. In the distance at the top of the photo can be seen the faces of Mount Rushmore Memorial. The photo highlighs the wooden Pigtail Bridge and its looped segment (hairpin switchback) of Iron Mountain Road, SD 87 in the heart of the granite mountains of Wind Cave National Park, South Dakota. The bridge was designed by Peter Norbeck and built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930's.

Written on card front, "Pigtail Bridge".

No writing on back, and the card is not posted.

Interesting addition to scenic or bridge postcard collection
