Clear, glossy sepia-tone Real Photo Postcard of the "Queen of California missions", the Santa Barbara's mission church, with its world-famous twin bell towers. It features a stone facade patterned after an ancient Latin temple in pre-Christian Rome. The design is traced to a book brought to California by the Franciscans, a Spanish reprint of an architecture book originally published in 27 B.C. This beautiful church stood firm for over a hundred years until suffering severe damage in the Santa Barbara earthquake on June 29, 1925. This photo was taken just prior to the earthquake damage, and two years of rebuilding plus later restoration work restored the original appearance. Not written nor postally used. Post card back stampbox AZO, 2 arrows up, 2 down date the the stock between 1910 and 1930. Interesting addition to California mission photo collection. Condition:
