Sharp, Sepia-tone Real Photo Postcard of the San Francisco City Hall builidng, illuminated at night for California's Admission Day Diamond Jubilee celebration, 1925. The DIAMOND JUBILEE 1925 refers to the 75th anniversary of California's admission into the Union as a state, September 9, 1850. The celebration from September 6-12 was marked by numerous festivities and parades. This San Francisco landmark was dedicated in 1915 after being reconstructed after the 1906 earthquake. It was a centerpiece of the Jubilee, covering two city blocks and featuring the fifth tallest dome in the world. It is one of the finest examples of Beaux Arts architecture in the country.
