Clear glossy Sepia Real Photo PostCard of The Bay Bridge, cousin to Golden Gate which connects the cities of San Francisco and Oakland. This photo shows the Bay Bridge in 1939, three years after it opened and six months before the Golden Gate. The picture clearly shows the eastern span with a double-tower cantilever span, and the continuation of five truss bridges. Not much traffic on the bridge, with about a dozen cars visible beyond the No U Turn sign. A small handwritten "X" marked near the upper left indicates the sender's city of El Cerrito. What looks like the photographer's mark appears in the lower left, and looks like "Zan 875" Note written on back from El Cerrito explains the mark on front "X marks the spot where I live." Sent with a 1 cent Washington stamp cancelled with the mark "GOLDEN GATE INTERNATIONAL EXPOSITION 1939". Postmarked on May 2, 1939 to Tulsa, Oklahoma. Again postmarked in Tulsa on May 6. Great addition to a photo collection of BRIDGES Condition
